Nancy Drool And The Spaceship Supply Shortage

Check out Hubbard's blog post in regards to Freemasonry, Solomon's Temple and chessboards.
------------
Nancy Drool, Dog Detective, was awoken from a sweet slumber by the incessant clamoring from the Bone Phone. Inspector Dalmatian had urgent needs for her detective skills.

Dr. Dachshund, chief engineer in charge of the mission to launch a starship to Saturn had committed suicide. This was puzzling because weeks before he and the entire project staff had watched the colony ship leave the launch pad. It seemed unlikely that a change from total elation to utter suicidal despondency would happen so fast. The Inspector suspected fowl play. Perhaps Dachsund's nemesis Chick N. Little had something to do with it.

Grumbling, Nancy doffed her trademark houndstooth cap, grabbed her magnifying class, hopped into her Range Rover and headed to the lab.

The crime scene detectives had done a good job leaving the scene of the 'suicide' unmarred.

The last message from the ship included two pieces that Inspector Dalmatian couldn't tie into a violent mood swing. He shared his thoughts with Nancy.

"The ship's engineer had mentioned that he was perusing the leisure section of the newspaper. Did the daily crossword, cryptoquote and word jumble. There was also a gematria puzzle created by Chick N. Little. The solution involved alternating calling the game board a chessboard or checkerboard. I thought this to be highly suspicious. HENce I called you."

Nancy glanced at the note and saw the gematria puzzle mentioned the distance from the Earth to the Sun being 93 million miles. There's a reference to Saturn. Keeping time. Dark and light.

Glancing over her shoulder and hearing her muttering the Inspector admitted that they did consider it.

"I know Nancy, what your thinking is that the Sun is not always 93 million miles away from the Earth. But Dr. Dachshund factors that into his calculations. He made sure there was extra fuel and supplies for an additional five million miles."

Groaning, Nancy turned to the Inspector. "You idiot! Dalmatian did commit suicide. But there's enough evidence here to at least bring Chicken Little in for further questioning."

THE SOLUTION

Chick N. Little had been feeding the rocket project staff bad information in the Gematria puzzles all along. The chessboard/checkboard thing was a red herring. The 93 million miles was purposeful sabotage. It makes no sense to reference Saturn and the distance from the Earth to the Sun in the same analysis. Saturn is 890 million miles from the Sun. 800 million from Earth. Knowing he had sent the ship out with nowhere near enough fuel and supplies and doomed the crew was more than Dachshund could stand. (To say nothing if the inevitable ridicule...You call yourself a scientist!?!!!?)
