No big aftershock to report here. You would expect that a mildly unusual earthquake would shake things up in the conspiracy world. As far as magnitude, damage, death toll and normal measures of how catastrophic a quake is:
https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2024/04/05/earthquake-new-york-new-jersey/
“No injuries or fatalities had been reported by Friday evening…” says a lot about how scary it was.
Unless you’re a conspiracy theorist. Then every single thing beyond the normal routine of gossiping about your neighbors and trying to find an unexpired coupon for your favorite brand of instant coffee becomes the end of the world.
Starting off with the actual gematria related stuff. Where they force the issue based on two digit numbers on a regular basis, the New Jersey quake was listed as 4.8 magnitude. That’s 48 for you folks that don’t understand that silly things like decimal points are purely optional when decoding. And what else is 48? The date of 4/8. And this happened on…<checks notes>…NOT 4/8. But it’s close enough, because the vastly more dangerous eclipse happens on 4/8! And there’s all kinds of Biblical terror going on with eclipses, earthquakes and any non coupon clipping related activities.
Odds are that there will be a 4.8 magnitude quake actually on 4/8/2024. But like this sample from 4/3 it will just be tucked away where lots of quakes are regular or in the middle of the ocean instead of mildly inconveniencing people in the eastern US.
We really wish that the deities or evil empires that are in charge of eclipses and earthquakes would be a tad more clear about their awe inspiring power and make their dates and locations a little less capricious. For instance, how about the epicenter right at the point where the X crosses and actually on 4/8/2024?
Conspiracy grifting doesn’t work on logic, but does work on lack of education and lack of science literacy in particular. As well as a lot of goading the target audience to make a big deal out of nothing.
Turning our all seeing evil empire eyes to the weird shit in the sky crowd we get a lot of big deal about nothing activity. And without direct goading, such as directly asking the video viewers to comment. One of my favorite cult leaders puts out a half dozen or so full length videos a day. And it’s always about weird aliens, dark energy, spirit guides, voices in the head told me, vacuous stuff tied into what’s going on in the headlines. And in a completely unrelated topic the comments:
Did you hear about the earthquake? What do you think about the earthquake? Is the earthquake related to the eclipse? Was the earthquake man made? The kind of people just begging to become targets of the bogus ads the monetized channel has slapped on to the start. Ads like “cancer doesn’t exist” and “you can lose weight be doing this secret routine for just 15 minutes a day”. And then the cult leader has the gall to pretend like it’s brand new news to them so that the next video has a ready made topic to discuss. Some terminally online grifters like that trick where the truth seekers pry them for info. At least Zach gets annoyed when people ask him a question he’s already addressed.
This gave the middle level of the pyramid scheme a chance to get their feet wet before the big eclipse. We know it’s going to be about anything but the sun and moon and Earth and how light getting blocked casts shadows. It’s going to be ritual sacrifices and government secret weapons and how the price of bitcoin is doing. You’ve got to wait for the headlines that day so you can predict what it was.
