The right word is probably coincidence, but we know you don’t like that, so how about fluke, happenstance, or contemporaneity. In case you need to search through some synonyms if the truly PERFECT word doesn’t exist.

I remarked to Zom earlier that the eclipse story was likely not manufactured. At least the bulk of it. You start with what you know. Like Ted Levine killing the local girl first in Silence of the Lambs before going all serial killery. You have to start somewhere, so stay in your comfort zone. Then you can branch out.
Just like the fact that Alexa Davalos was in Chronicles of Riddick and this was just on SyFy channel Monday right after I mentioned her, happenstances occur. Some are just cooler than others. Here we have a story about some cooler than normal numbers that falls apart for multiple reasons.
At least we can be thankful this hasn’t been twisted into another frigging eclipse ritual with blatantly forced turning a four digit number into a two digit number. The intent is to present, “Hey, check out these numbers. I’m right about these, so I’m right about everything else.” Granted that three scores with the same losing team against three successful teams is rather weird. But even if there is actually rigging of the results there’s no evidence at all regarding who or why these games were singled out for special treatment for an organization that apparently cares about how many pass attempts Sam Bradford threw in a preseason game a couple of years ago. (I can just hear it now, “I never said that!” Yeah, but it’s the kind of thing that gets said all the time when the not quite as cool numbers show up).
Just like dates being arbitrarily decided we haven’t established clearly what defines a team record that the Giant killers story is supposed to apply to. The example that will come to mind for every true football fan is the 1972 Miami Dolphins. The only undefeated team in NFL history. Why the evil empire chose to not give a fuck about this until after 1972 is a complete mystery. There’s a better example. The Panthers were 13-0 before the Giant Killer story comes to fulfillment. The 2009 Indianapolis Colts were 14-0 and didn’t even have the Giants on their schedule that year. Those millions of us that recognize that sports are not rigged, at least in a manner as suggested by gematria where Carl Nassib, Tom Brady and THE CHOSEN ONE have the same value, realize this was entirely due to resting their starters getting ready for the playoffs. They didn’t care about being competitive and losing the last two games of the regular season.
If it holds true for a 13-0 team you would think that a better record of 14-0 would apply. As for determining what counts as a special team that this should apply to it gets really muddy. Every team starts the season without a loss. Exactly how many wins qualifies a team to be part of the perfect story line? How about confirmation bias and waiting until after the fact and making a big deal about it? Once you get beyond the three cool “hits” the misses start piling up until you can justify how good of a start a Giants’ opponent needs to get off to have this story apply. Although 38-35 is high scoring in this age with the rule changes it’s not too uncommon for one team to score 35 or 38 in a game. Just because it’s unlikely does not mean impossible. There are tons more games that the Giants didn’t lose 38-35. An individual ticket with one in one billion odds of winning a raffle drawing is unlikely. Somebody has to have the winning ticket so it has to be possible. You’re arguing that it’s rigged and some vague, shadowy, selectively incompetent but otherwise all powerful douchebags rigged it for that one winner. With a system that can prove that any of the billion tickets can be “proven” to be rigged.
My favorite part is of course the word PERFECT. If you Google “1972 Dolphins Pe”, autocomplete brings up PERFECT SEASON. Because that truly was, if anything qualifies, the perfect season. The best word for these Giant losers is probably UNDEFEATED which could apply to Giants’ opponents and the ‘72 Dolphins. This happens to equal the point total 38+35=73=PERFECT. And it’s the only actual gematria in the entire story. One single word. The perfect word for one story. I suppose we’re due for a new elision to make UNDEFEATED=73 after this.
Once the stockpile of cooler than average stories is exhausted we’ll be back to Ted Levine killing off people as an eclipse sacrifice. Here’s an example of what to expect:
Stephen Hawking dies as solar eclipse sacrifice because a couple of football games had a weird outcome.
