No its because it's short for Esquire. And apparently coveted by members of the profession. Any old lawyer can't just slap on an Esq. at the end of his name. Just like in The Paper Chase, you have to eeeaaaarrrrnnn it.


When these and those few others (PharmD) there is clearly an intent that a capital letter means something different.
